That’s awesome Mike. Steve Root and I had a great afternoon/evening, but we weren’t close to 100 fish! Jigging Rap
and blade baits worked for awhile then firecracker chartreuse Pulse Rs. Saw a guy boat a fat 29” walleye. The fish are plump!

Glad to hear you guys were on them too Jim. I was looking for some of those nice sized saugers yesterday but only found a few smaller ones.

So who is going tomorrow. Light winds and sun should make for a nice day. Got to imagine we will be busting ice at the ramp in the morning.

I didn’t get down there today Mike so maybe there’s an inch of snow on the ramp. And some shelf ice, like you mentioned. Good luck tomorrow!

Bringing a new ice cutter tomorrow to open the ramp. My Dewalt pole saw. Hoping it will reach out a ways to cut ice. The ice yesterday got back at me and took out a trailer light.

I’m thinking about it, sunny and 30 F at 1:00.
Mike, if you need help opening the ramp, netting your fish and taking photos, let me know!

Thanks Jim but got a full boat already. 30 degrees, sun and light winds are not to bad. That warm water where you fished would make it even better yet.

Took a little time today prepping for below freezing temps.
Hitting the rod eyelets with Pam helps to keep them thawed out. Switching out fishing line to mono or fresh water resistant braid helps to. Wipped down the trolling motor shaft with WD40 last trip. This is a must in below freezing temps.

This was disappointing. Arrived at the ramp about 1:00. Ice as far as I could see when crossing the bridge, even the channel. There are 2 boats out there somewhere. Too much ice breaking for me.
Except for Friday, below freezing the rest of the month. Looks like the end of the P2 season for me.

One walleye for us today. Had to go to Prescott to find open water. We check 494 about 9am today and saw those two trailers in the lot. Guessing they where hunters. Maybe next weekend 2 will open up again. One fish sure is a long way from my last trip out.

Typical pool 2 this time of year. Just when you think its over it might not be over. Temps for the coming week sure don’t look terrible. Some wind or bright sunny days would be fantastic for clearing some of that ice out. Sure worth keeping an eye on.

Darn it, I think I could have made it out today. Channel opened up. Stopped by at 12:30.

That’s a definite go in my book. Then again even Sundays conditions had me thinking about going. Pool 2 this time of year is like that dying actor that just doesn’t want to end.

Bite on pool 2 over the weekend started out very slow but still found a few decent ones. A few 28″s and 29’s from the weekend. Also got a pile of 22″+ sized saugers.

Awesome Mike! Had a good bite Monday and caught some fat 22-23” walleyes. Caught a sauger and a walleye at the same time on a blade bait, one on each treble hook. Couldn’t believe it when I saw them.

We had a few absolutely mash crank baits, too.

Last week we caught 45 total fish all 18-24 inches both walleyes and saugers! One 29er that my bother-in-law got too. Jim and Steve saw that one go down.

A nice 27″ for Rootski from last night. Good number of fish biting for us but not a lot of big girls.

Nice fish Steve! Anyone know if the 494 ramp is open? Thinking about getting out there mid morning.
