No complaints with those numbers. Was this during the day or night?

Pool 2 Report (2020)

Not surprised about the vehicles in the river at the ramp. With all the boat traffic ramp os a skating rink. It was a real mess this morning. Truck slides right down the ramp til the tires hit the water. Then hope it stops there.
Fishing for us was much slower this weekend. Still found fish just had to grind it out over spots that they are holding on. Seem to be biting a bit of everything. Not sure if we even averaged a fish an hour. A few big gals made it worth the wait.
Pair of 29s for big fish. Smaller one went 11.2 pounds.

Good for you, Mike. Keep it up!
No boat in the area, hoping to do some shore fishing down there this week. Any room to cast down by those Kaposia ball fields or the levee park a little downstream of there? If not, maybe Pike island or Minnehaha would kick out a fish or two!

Nice job there Mike and Eric!

March 2, 2020 at 8:08 am #1919326Did alright yesterday. 13 fish with a 29” and 27” being the biggest.
There’s a new feature in the water just out from the 494 launch as well. A truck sitting in 8ft of water. Pretty sure I nicked my prop on it. I let the cops know and they gotta get a dive team together to get it out. There’s another one to that’s up against the Wing dam just downriver that didn’t look as fresh lol.
Will post a pic of the screenshot when I get home.Oh no, any story that you know of to the first truck? Also I am excited to see the pics!
March 2, 2020 at 11:07 am #1919384Nope. My guess is stolen. You could tell they drove it straight down the ramp. The other ones a little further out and may be difficult to get out. I’ll post them pics when I get home from work tonight. Got caught up with some stuff last night

Did you happen to report this to the police?

March 2, 2020 at 12:18 pm #1919412The DNR was out both days out of 494. Most of drove their boat over the vehicle a few times. When I was loading up Sunday looked like the on CO was making a pit stop at the truck for a new citation pad. Got to pay for that nice Skeeter one way or another.
March 2, 2020 at 12:26 pm #1919416We were out Sat into Sunday. Launched and the 494 lot was full, returned and it was completely empty but us ha.
It was a nice night to be on river. We only managed 6 fish but they were all 23” and over so that was fun. Biggest went 27.5 and 27. We didn’t get any Mike W. donkeys!!! Dragging jugs was best but we did drop one big fish cranking.
Oh, and I almost forgot, we accidentally caught a nummy brown fish too!

It was still froze shut last weekend. From the main river to the new bridge is now open but from the lower culver looking upstream is froze, Moores lake is solid ice as well.
March 2, 2020 at 2:37 pm #1919463Evan, pair of 27s are darn nice fish. Chris weighed a 27 this weekend that was over 9 pounds. Trophy fish in a lot of people’s minds.
March 2, 2020 at 9:03 pm #19195631st pic shows the vehicle that’s straight out from the launch. Looks rolled over.
3rdpic shows that same vehicle with the log next to it on the right of the pic. To the left approximately 60-70ft is another vehicle.
2nd pic shows something I seen upriver a few miles. Appears to be.. I think a body but not 100% certain. Didn’t hit screenshot fast enough to have the possible 2 legs as well.

March 3, 2020 at 7:40 am #1919599woah katmando! That is crazy. I am not seeing the interpretation of the body in that one pic but I also am not a side imagining savant either!
Any word from the DNR if they pulled those trucks out yet?
It is a good reminder to keep your motor trimmed up when launching at 494, who knows who dumped a vehicle in the launch before you got there. Lotta riff raft around SSP
March 3, 2020 at 8:59 am #1919635Wow is right. Think those imaged might be more amazing than the fact there are vehicles in the water. Side imaging sure is a game changer for river fishing.

I can’t see the second vehicle, but it looks like the poor guy left the sunroof open on the first vehicle.
Nice pics
March 3, 2020 at 9:53 am #1919662Wonder if air pressure didn’t pop it out as the cab filled with water?
March 3, 2020 at 11:11 am #1919702It appears the vehicle rolled down the 4ft drop off. Can see the slide marks in the sand. And looks like the roof is kinda caved in.
Mike, you don’t even know how many good fishing trips I can attribute to this unit. Just last saturday scanning seeing only giants pods of carp on p2 until a school popped out at me that I thought were big walleye. Well they were and we pecked them off pitching.
March 3, 2020 at 3:32 pm #1919782Haha, this is some wild stuff. Vehicles in the river. That side imaging shows it pretty obvious too.
March 3, 2020 at 4:06 pm #1919805Hopefully there’s no people in either of those vehicles.
There’s some questionable stuff by them
Vehicles. There may be? Tough to say.Attachments:
March 4, 2020 at 11:05 pm #1920240Thanks for the help with side imaging adjustments. Didn’t take long to find that vehicle by the ramp. Found the one by the wingdam to.
Cody BenjaminsonPosts: 11March 6, 2020 at 7:13 am #1920503Hey everyone I’m a long time reader but first time poster, this weekend I’m looking to head down to pool 2 somewhere between the Ford Dam and Fort Snelling looking for some walleyes and or saugers. I was down by the marina across from Fort Snelling for a little while and only saw one caught from a boat right off shore. So what I was wondering if you could help me with was some good shore fishing spots for this time of year when things are just getting rolling? Thank you in advance, any advice is appreciated! 👍🏻
March 6, 2020 at 8:13 am #1920527Think you could target just about any shoreline or current break from the 35e bridge to the dam. Im really surprised more people dont fish the shore down there. Just like the guys in boats put in some time and locate the better spots. Bring a pile of jigs or crank baits. It will take a few to learn the snags. As far as timing fishing was pretty easy the last few months. Fish seem to be on the move now with changing water levels. They can still be caught its just that they keep moving.

Target under the hwy 5 bridge from the bridge to the creek on the south end.
There are different current breaks and depths in there. Look at the maps but there are deep breaks near the bridge and along the edge of the creek that you can pitch into from shore. It’s a hike down there, though. Don’t overlook a simple minnow on a lindy style rig.

March 6, 2020 at 2:40 pm #1920635The river is up 4 ft in Jordan and 1.5 ft in Burnsville from Tuesday.. Shes coming! The garbage that flushes out of the Minnesota river will really change some things down stream of the confluence in St Paul. By Monday we will have a better idea but the warm weather on the way here will just speed up this flow chart.
March 6, 2020 at 7:15 pm #1920705It sure did! I finally got out on Pool 2 in a boat and sure as S*&% it’s the day the MN breaks loose. Oh well.
