With the pool 2 fishing contest coming up this weekend its time to start getting things organized for the pot luck get together after the contest. We typically use this post to make sure we are all not bringing the same items and to list a few things that are needed.

New this year Jon Jordan is going to bring his deep fryer for a little fish fry after the contest. Sturdiwheat was nice enough to donate the mixes for the fish fry. If you got some extra fillets in the freezer bring them down. I got a couple of bags of crappies from earlier this summer to put in. Keep in mind pool 2 is catch and release for walleyes, saugers, and bass so DO NOT keep these fish during the contest for the fish fry.

Currently there are two tables where we usually set up after the contest. For those that haven’t been to this before that is right across the walking bridge on the island at lions landing. Ill bring table cloths for these. Will get some bags for garbage to. The park grill that we have used there seems to had been washed away in the high water this year. Seem to remember most years we have the park grill and at least one more going so if anyone has a grill we can use bring it with.

Think I still have a few extra paper plates, plastics forks, napkins and stuff around to bring to. Other than that it will be bean pickles and some venison sausages for me.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there again this year.

Will have the deep fryer, oil, bag of filets. Also bringing a few bags of fries. Bring the fish and I’ll take it from there! Or if Tuckner is there I’ll step aside for the master!! Looking forward to seeing everyone down there Saturday.

Jon – I will bring a couple of walleye’s worth of fillets. How much fish do you think we will need? I could also bring a few pike fillets as well.

Wish I could make it guys, something came up for Saturday. But with this rain and cold I’m giving myself a hallpass for fishing next couple nights. Eyes should be running as usual and could keep a limit if needed for your fry.

It appears that others have the meat and appetizers covered. I’ll plan to throw in a bag of crappie/sunny filets just in case they are needed.

But I’ll also bring 4 bags of chips and some 2-liters of pop (soda for those non-MNtans).

What’s the rule on adult beverages there Mike? Are they allowed in park?

They are allowed (and welcomed), but no bottles!

The park does have rules on adult beverages. We havent had any issues with them in the past. Maybe bring a can cooler with to put them under cover.

I am hoping there are a few of you guys that home brew and wouldn’t mind bringing some samples. That would go great with a cook out.

Might need some paper plates and bowls. Sounds like we got a couple of grills coming. My wife is making up some beans to go with the fish. If you got some extra fish bring it. Other wise bring what ever you want to share. There is always a pretty good variety of stuff there every year,.
