I’ve never really targeted Catfish. And that would include this morning when I was pitching a 1/8th ounce jig with a small paddle tail, 8# mono, and a light action spinning rod. What I thought was a snag swam past the front of the boat and then pulled me and the boat out into the middle of the channel. 30 minutes later we’re still playing tug-of-war, I’d get some line back and then the fish would burp out a bunch of bubbles and head back down. We did that quite a few times before I could feel that the fish was beginning to tire. Finally he was in the net. I didn’t get a length as the water is warm and I didn’t want to keep him in the boat any longer than necessary. But I’ll tell you what, he was heavy!
