I wasn’t doing all that great on the wing dams on Saturday so I thought I’d try to get back into Hog Lake from the channel. I thought with the flow up a bit, I should be able to get back in there. Wrong. I got in quite a ways but then I got stuck pretty good. I had to get out into the water and wiggle and pull the boat free. But hey, at least the water wasn’t deep. crazy I think a River Pro or a jon boat could get back in there. Or maybe come in from the other side.

Water temperature was 52, up a couple of degrees from the previous weekend. I ended up with 5 walleyes and a sauger. All but two came on blades. The biggest walleye was 24″ with the rest in the 18-21″ range. Nice day to be out. I did catch a couple pretty quickly shortly before sunrise so maybe I should have gotten out of bed early to fish the dark bite. I couldn’t stay out to see how the evening bite was.

Been there, done that. In the dark none the less… Won’t ever forget it.

I know in September I could not float my Jon boat through there. Jet boats and soft bottoms don’t go well together. It makes for a very abrupt stop if you get to shallow.
