Pool 2 Guides?

Have been on Pool 4 a couple of times with a guide. But I’m very interested in learning more about what
I’m seeing in the “pool 2 report” thread. Any recommendations, or do any of you guys on the thread guide
on Pool 2? I have a bit of time up around Hidden Falls, but have never been out of 494 ramp or Lion’s Levee.

Additionally, curious about areas of slack water that are good for fishing near those ramps. I fish from my inflatable kayak a fair bit around hidden falls. Slowly trolling upstream. Can be a struggle for sure at times. Just wondering
about some slower water areas if people know.

    Thanks!

Call Blue Ribbon Bait….. they have a guy or two that guides pool 2.

Slack water kinda depends on the overall flow. There are areas from the dam to the confluence that have it. In front of the dog park, the downstream side of the launch, the confluence, etc.

It’s going to be tough in a kayak except in real low flow times like late summer.

Thanks. Yep mid summer starting at hidden falls is not too bad heading to the dam. I was wondering a bit more about south of downtown. I do have a small gas motor, but like to go without it when possible.

I know few years ago when the p4 bite was tough Marty Hahn was spending some time on P2 this time of year. I “think” he spends most of his time on P4 and P3 but don’t know how much he fishes on P2. Regardless I’ve been with him twice and he knows how to fish a river. I think he saves his posts so you could go back and look at them and get an idea of his style.

I believe Denver guides pool 2 also.

If you put in at Lions landing you can stay in the back channel for about a mile south. Other good areas are Grey cloud. Just part along side the road and you will have miles of back waters to explore. Gravel landing at Spring lake is in the back waters to.

CS, Mike pointed out some good areas. I have paddled miles on pool 2 in my bell solo canoe. There are some great areas!!

Are you going solo or do you have another guy that would bring a second vehicle??

I usually went by myself. A good run is from lions levee down through grey cloud cut and back up through moores lake to the main channel. If you have two cars one can park down in Grey Cloud by the culvert that goes back to moores lake on the upstream side. You will have to portage the canoe back over the road down there but is pretty easy and has spots to land the canoe. If you have a car up at the levee and another in grey cloud you do not have to paddle upstream. It is about a 1.5 hour paddle down if you are taking your time. plan on 4 hours if you make the whole loop.

I attached a link to upload maps. Chart # 15-16 cover this area from 494 down to spring lake. There is lots to see back there.

If the river is high then you may want to take caution at the bridge entering the upper end of grey cloud cut. She gets moving but if you are familiar with fast water you are just fine.

If interested I can print a map, highlight the course and attach it here.
