Sorry for the poor pic, I was solo. I tried taking a second with one hand, but I guess it didnt take.

    Jigging raps!

10# mono or braid. Too much stretch on that 6#. But I only run the biggest size jigging rap.

    Nice cat

I’m not rich enough to start fishing jiggin raps in the river, snag city.

Nice cat, hope I tag into one of those this year, looks like hella fun. toast

I was kidding, do cats really like jiggin raps??? I was shocked when this thing hit. I have caught lots on shad raps (especially rattling ones), but thought that was more of a reaction hit.

I am not sure about jigging raps but I have caught some really nice flats on blade baits.. Not snagged either. They clobber them blades. Fooled me a few times thinking I might have finally hook that 32 inch walleye at first.

    They’ll hit them for sure.

I dropped a jigging rap down to a big arc on my graph last year and coaxed the fish to hit, it bumped and missed.. Another minute of convincing and it hit again… Decent flathead on eye gear ~15#… All while watching it on the graph telling my buddy “I’m going to catch that big SOB”

Which lead to me fishing that spot with big suspended sucker minnows and I crushed em so to speak at that location.

So yeah flathead will eat anything when they are in the mood and it is right in front of them… Cranks, jigs, etc.

Not terrible uncommon to catch flatheads via walleye tackle but probably not a go to tactic.

I seem to catch most of my mistake Flats off good current seams in late may and early june. Not so much in the late summer. Just like you said above… If they are feeding they will eat anything. Especially in these shallow seams they have one thing on their mind and a noisy walleye baits is easy pickings.
