Never fished spring lake, the guy who offered me a spot in his boat jumped ship and cancelled. Someone please post pics and what work.. or just post what didn’t work xD

October 3, 2021 at 7:47 am #2064822Good morning guys and girls.
It was nice to see you all again and was hoping to stay longer and have some fish but we had to run. I look forward to next year!! Here is the 2nd place fish.
We had our best luck with a jig and a crawler. Just have to weed through all the drum and cats but found enough walleyes to fill our board.

October 3, 2021 at 8:42 am #2064841Thank you to everyone that came out for the contest. Even with a slow bite everyone managed to catch a few fish. Fish fry at the end was fantastic.
Eric and I struggled to find much at all yesterday but with a few minutes left of fishing stuck a nice 27″ eye to take the big fish pot. Its good to be lucky sometimes.

October 3, 2021 at 8:57 am #2064846What’s the deal with the playing cards, to show it was caught on the day of the contest?

Haha I wondered that too.
October 3, 2021 at 4:58 pm #2064917Thanks to Mike and Jon for putting this together and the awesome fish fry. Thanks to those that brought awesome food and to Sharon for the Apple Pie. Always a fun event and kick off to Fall.

October 3, 2021 at 7:16 pm #2064955Was cool to come and say hi to a few guys!
Jon, the fish were fried up top notch!DeucesPosts: 5236October 4, 2021 at 7:28 am #2064995The most amazing part for me was that three of us spent 6 hours trolling cranks over rocks, caught around 50 eyes and never lost a crank! Some tangles, snags, reties, but recovered it all.
October 4, 2021 at 8:25 am #2065003It was great to see you guys again and some new faces!
It rained in North Mpls and it rained in Red Wing but nary a drop hit the ground during the Hawg Haul 2021! Had I known I would of been up earlier…to get in on the big drum pot if nothing else!
BTW Joe, who won that pot and is there a photo?
Fish, pickled pike and all was very good. Sharon, one short glass of Apple Pie was plenty….although it did have a “come back” flavor!
Thanks to all the organized and attended!
Mike OtisPosts: 69October 4, 2021 at 8:40 am #2065008First time fishing the Hog Haul for me, and man I had a good time. Thanks Jon and Mike for putting this on, I’ll definitely be attending year after year. I’ll try to drum up a few new boats for next year.
Speaking of drum, Ben Cesar won the big drum pot (last minute bet between our boat and Buschman’s). On a big rippin’ rap of all things!
Hopefully I’ll see you guys out there this fall!

October 4, 2021 at 9:58 am #2065029Mike and Ben, congrats on the big drum. We lost by 3/4 of an inch in think so was close!! I look forward to a rematch

Good work everyone!
Looks like some adventurous math going for boat #6 — I see a 5-fish bag in the low/mid 70s just counting in my head. And somehow they got a big fish that’s an inch longer than anything they recorded.
Ben CesarPosts: 10October 4, 2021 at 10:16 am #2065039Thanks to everyone that helped organize and for welcoming some new faces to the event!
The Hog Haul was my first time on the Pool 2. It was great to have a community of experienced river guys out there for the first go.
Shout out to Mike Otis being a good stick and river navigator as well!
Our big fish for the day was indeed the Sheepshead, but I’ll take the win on that side bet lol.
That was a #6 Rippin Rap, Leprechaun color. For the record, it yielded more Walleye than drum.
Ben CesarPosts: 10October 4, 2021 at 10:36 am #2065041Whoops! That was my bad. I’ve never fished any tournament-like events prior.
So we’re officially at 78.5″ for the day with that 17.25″ being big fish.

Was 17.25 a walleye or a drum? the tourney is for walleye/sauger only, so you only count walleye/sauger towards your bag and your BF is the biggest of your 5 fish walleye/sauger bag. all other fish are for yourself/side bet with bushman and not part of the tourney.
