Im still pretty new to pool 2. Does anyone have any advice on what to do or focus on in the upcoming weeks? Not to concerned about size, I would just love to get some fish in the boat. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Trolling rip-rap has always been good to me for numbers.

Reel them in carefully. All the fish in P2 have been caught so many times there mouths are all tore up from hooks.

As we transition into fall and early winter, you will want to be comfortable boating/fishing during the dark.

Right now focus on getting to know your spots. Drop lots of waypoints on areas you intend to fish. Get to know where hazards are. Make sure all of you lights are working ect. This will go a long way in the weeks ahead.

Thanks guys, I did well last year at times, i had a day where I caught 50 fish but none over 19. I had a day where i was out for 8 hours and caught 3 fish, smallest being 28, so I haven’t been able to develop a pattern.

Sounds like a typical pool 2. waytogo

Go fish Pool 4. As fall approaches the Pool 2 fish loose their teeth and stop biting.

I’ve fished pool 4 during fall and haven’t done very well. I live in St. Paul. I think I’ll just hit pool 2 and get to know it a little more

Where do you typically launch out of? For years, I fished the stretch from the confluence to the dam. From spring until mid June, you could get big fish but later in the year, I believe those fish move down river.

I haven’t put in a ton of time on the lower stretch, but when you find them, the average size is much better.

I usually launch at hidden falls. It’s close to my house and it’s a decent launch. I also think by June a lot of the fish have moved downstream. The thing is, I don’t wanna pull the boat down there if I don’t have to. But the dam and confluence is hard to beat during fall and spring.
How do u guys usually fish them downstream?

Find the schooling shad and you will find the fish. Also don’t hesitate fishing shallow even during the day, 5 feet or less.
