There is a sign at the bottom end of the channel past the bridge that says no wake for the next 2 miles. This is as you are looking up river going under the bridge at the bottom end of the channel.

It may be a shortcut going down/up river mileage wise, but going up river it will take a long time to go all the way through the channel bridge to bridge at no wake. No tall boats are making it under the bridge on the downstream side. Clearance on the upper bridge will depend on water levels.

My son and I ran that bridge in s 621 Ranger this spring when the water was high and ripping. Let’s just say I’m not used to situations like that. Thought I could fast idle back thru going up current. No, halfway thru the bridge, I realized that wasn’t going to work. Way too much water pouring in. I had to give it all 250 ponies to get out of there. Sure got my attention.

So the entire stretch is no wake but you can’t run it without opening up? doah

Here’s to hoping this gets figured out. My concern is we’ll never hear another word on this now that the project is “complete.” I think the improvement to water quality will be realized, so at least that’s something.

Brian, I almost wonder if that was you that we seen run it.. It would have been right at the end of april and doubt many were brave enough to try. It was a fancy bass boat with a 250 and sounds about the same way you described it. I have a 75 on my lund and would have made it if I hit it at full go.. but didn’t want to do it without an extra pair of underpants in the boat with me.

The only spot that requires you to open it up is right under the bridge. The rest of the channel has current with much less force.

I haven’t been back there, was just referring to Buschman’s post:

Also, I do not see them putting no wake throughout the whole back channel. The bridge should be no wake of course but beyond that you might have to run on plane just to get over some of that soft silt buildup.

I never seen a sign. The culver section at the bottom end of the cut may have one but from the new bridge down to the culvert there is no signs out that are not “hand made” if you know what I mean.
