Anyone go check them this afternoon? Sure was nice out today. From what I saw yesterday morning to this morning things where moving in the right direction.
Does anybody know if any of the accesses have a dock in? I know the IDO episode a couple weeks used one, but I didn’t recognize the landing. I’d like to take advantage of the weather this weekend to take out my brand new Lund, and while I know it’s a tool that was built to be used, I’d still rather not have the very first thing I do with my brand new boat be beaching it on rocks/ice.
St Paul Park landing always has a dock in but might not be open with a lot of ice in that area with this recent cold snap. We chopped a lot of ice Sunday to get the boat out Monday this week.
If the river does open back up it will have a lot of sheet ice out there for a bit.. These sheets will be 4 inches thick and 2-80 ft in diameter. Monday the river was choked shore to shore in areas with this ice. I don’t know if it is the best playground for a new boat anyways. Not till the busted shore ice moves out of the channel. Just a heads up is all. This will mainly be the first 24-36 hours after the landings open up. Waves from the boats are what will be breaking most of this shore ice loose and there is a lot of it right now.
Thanks for the advice guys. The show two weeks ago along with having to travel to Minneapolis for work last week (where it was pretty wide open) had me chomping at the bit. We’ll play it by ear this weekend.
