I was thinking the same thing driving over the Mississippi and rum over the last few days.

We checked 494 on sunday. Looked like someone had been out. Sure wished it had been me.

I was down at willies/tavern 829 on Saturday and took a picture.. Looks like a bumpy ride with an air boat.

The upper part out my window (just under High Bridge) is locked up tight.

Anyone been checking ramps this week?Cant think of a better Christmas present to myself than getting the boat out one last time this year.

I will be checking the ramps Thursday after work and will let you know.

Must be a heck of a ice jam somewhere as the Mississippi river in Elk River is super high, flooded into the trees. Eventually that water has to flow down stream at some point.

That sun and wind I bet is doing a number on the ice today. Might have to dig out the Christmas decorations for the boat.

I took these pictures 30 minutes ago. It doesn’t look very promising. There’s a lot of ice down there.

Thanks for the pics Rootski. Wonder if we will get any melting in the next couple days?

You’re welcome Kendall. I wonder what will happen to the Pool 2 ice if and when all that flood water backed up around Monticello lets go. That all has to come through here eventually.

I know it was cold, but it seems like we have a lot of ice for the water level. I’m surprised more hasn’t melted already. I am super curious about the ice dam, too!

Did some investigating tonight and didn’t see anything good. 494 ramp looked the same as it did in Steve’s photos, lillydale is locked up tight and hidden falls was also locked up tight. Doesn’t look like I will get out this weekend.

That cold spell we had much of froze up those shorelines well. Maybe the next few warm days might get things moving on 2. Sure would be nice to get the boat out for a day or so around the holidays.

Drove by the 494 access today. The open water is wider than it was, but there’s still about 100 yards of ice in front of the ramp. No chance of launching any time soon.

Milder weekend, anything loosening up?
