I am flying up from Colorado next week to spend a few days on the hard water with my two boys and my father and was wondering what the ice/snow conditions are up in Polk County. We will be fishing on Big Blake and Big Round. Any help would be appreciated, thank you fellow outdoorsmen!
atv travel only on both. 6″ of clear ice and 2″ of milk colored ice on top of it, weather suppose to be colder next week so that should help some.
Beast is spot on. If you have snowmobiles they’re even better right now but moving around with a wheeler is getting better.
There’s still some slush pockets around but I haven’t found any too deep.
Also be aware of the current on those two lakes. The Straight River runs through both lakes and creates weak ice at the inlets and outlets.
