Tough deal, but the writing was on the wall.
I do question how some of these universities will have in-person classes with thousands of kids on or near campus, but cannot play football games without a crowd. More of this may have to do with college athletes beginning to organize and make demands than people realize. The leagues “taking their ball and leaving” is one way to keep a lid on that specifically.
On a separate note, the NCAA is an $8 billion a year organization that cannot get a grasp on or working plan to deal with Covid. Local public schools are going to get it figured out though? Anyone who has all the answers or a perfect plan right now is a liar.
Well its out of my control at least I will save money not paying for cable this fall/winter. I’m just glad our kids our going back to school that’s more important in the long run!
Never stopped me from fishing in the fall, if the Badgers were on, I had it on the radio in the boat. That said, it will be a strange rest of the year as it has been since March
I am thinking there will be a lot more people hunting this fall too. Not a great combination when you have more people in the woods and fields toting guns.
My son and i go to alot of home gophers games. So thats to bad. We new it was coming but nothing like gophers out doors football on a chilly afternoon

There was a lot to look forward to this year, probably more so than any year in my Gopher football-watching lifetime.
Definitely a bummer with the gophers looking as good as I can remember them looking. I am not surprised though, tough to keep up the facade of school being more important than football for the universities if they let them play. I think all of the potential union stuff from a few years ago and players wanting longer term medical coverage played a role as well. Tough to deny them long term medical benefits if they played this year.
I too was looking forward to the Gopher season…to see how quickly the bandwagon emptied after they started 1-3.

We go if they are 1-7 or 7-1 its all good fun either way. Even though 7-1 is way more fun. The energy at the stadium is always something good to experience

Agree. I’ve been a husker fan after living in Omaha for 10 years. It was easy to be a fan in the 90’s. A little tougher now but nothing better than a college football atmosphere. TCF is a great place to see games.
I’m going to really miss college football. Listening to a game on the radio while in the boat on the river on a cool October afternoon is the best.
meh…..I prefer the pro game myself and will be fishing regardless. it’s too bad but it seems like its the 18-25 crowd that can’t seem to grasp social distancing so not really surprised……carry on
Any word on the college hockey season. I think the first tournament (October) has already been postponed.
What percentage on here would actually go to a football game if given the choice between that and a day on the water. I don’t know anybody who is an actual avid fisherman who would pick football.
Are there more die hard sports fans than I’m aware of?

I would go. They are on a Saturday from noon to 4. So fish morning go to the tfc stadium and then fish the evening. I fish 5 to 6 times a week and count myself as a avid fisherman. I dont follow much NFL but do enjoy college ball
Any word on the college hockey season.
The Ivy League teams out east are prohibited from sports until at least Jan 1, that includes ice hockey.

A pretty high percentage I would guess. I go to multiple football games every year between Pro, Big time College and MIAC. Still fish and hunt a lot too, and would consider fishing my main hobby.
To clarify, I know plenty of sports fans. The folks I know that would go to the game would identify as a sports fan, not an outdoorsman.
I assumed folks here would be fishing first, then sports.
Not a bad thing, the thread just surprised me and got me thinking.

Obviously you have not read a lot of the post here I would call some of the posters here media posters (just looking for a reaction)! I am an outdoorsman but sure love to hear the game on the radio!
