So I’ve just started to dabble in the planer board world with line counters. I absolutely love it. To be sure I have this understood, do I need to let out line to reach the desired depth before clipping the board on? Does the board act more or less as a pendallum and it’s main purpose after it’s been clipped on is to move the bait away from the Boat? Thanks in advance.

Yes, your line to your desired depth of your lure. Then planer board. And yes the reason for a board is to move your lure out of the noise shadow and wake of your boat.

The above is spot on. If running 6 colors of lead let out 6 colors then clip the board.

WARNING: trolling planers is addictive. It is a fun way to fish!! Welcome to the wonderful world of planer boards!
