Pike on opener

    Hey guys,

    My 11-year-old and I are heading to Mille Lacs this Saturday, mainly to target walleye. We’ll most likely be fishing the sand on the NE side. My son would also like to catch “a big pike” as he’s used to 20 inch hammer handles. Any tips on how an where to target pike this time of year?

    See if you can find some weeds. A twitch bait should work good. Don’t let him rip it to fast. Otherwise just troll a spoon.

    There won’t be any weeds in the NE corner this time of year. Honestly I wouldn’t get your hopes up for pike on Opener but if you want to try use a spoon like Dutch said or a #9 shallow shad rap in 8-10 ft of water.
