pike

Whats everyones thoughts on weight/ length of this pike? Had no tape and released it. Caught in Hulbert MI.(U.P.) i have caught alot of pike and i think this may have hit the 40 mark.

not to offend but do you mean 40 inch or 40 LBS. to me and its hard to tell from a pic. it maybe 38/40″ and 19/22 LBS. I know the stats on this fish.

I know it wasnt 40 pounds of course. Felt 15 to 18 maybe. Im 6 foot two and 220. 20 inch shoulders. The wife and i were on a getaway and we went for a quick tour of lake when we got there. Grabbed a rod and left net and everything else back at cabin. Of course i lock into a nice one. My thoughts are it hit the 40″ mark. Thoughts?

yes you very well may have a 40″ fish, very nice for sure

Looks like about 37″ to me.

Ed this is a 39 inch one I caught. I am 6 foot 3 so it should be a good comparison.

I’m going to guess on the conservative side and say you’ve got an upper 30’s. Damn nice fish! Looks really fat too.

Saw my first 40+ two weeks ago. 41 for sure, probably 42 with more care or optimism. Our tape went to 38’ish. Weight at 18#. For comparison we caught and 11.5 and a 13+ in the next 30 minutes. They were nice fish but nothing compared to the 18#’er.

Here’s our big fish from a June 2014 trip. 13# and can’t remember length. Guessing 36 plus or minus. For scale my buddy is 5’11 but broad shoulders. He’s also not doing the hold the fish way out to make it look bigger trick.

Hopefully I’ll get that 40+ inch monster posted when I get home tonight. It will be over in the Rainy Lake forum when I do.

It looks a bit shy of 40″, maybe (36 to 38)” If I had to guess I’d say ~ 15 pounds. A nice fish.
