My dad and I had our best bear encounter of our lives at Aikens Lake over Memorial Weekend. Two photos attached – we got to watch this bear for 45 minutes and were able to get quite close in the boat

Here’s a good bear hunting post by Jason Mitchell. He talks about bear hunting in Canada and then spotlights a trip he took to Wekusko Falls Lodge in Manitoba for a bear hunting trip where they also caught big walleyes.

It looks pretty awesome. I might have to consider this! Baby is coming in August … not so sure I can swing a fall trip with a 1 or 2-month old baby this year though )

No pic but years back fishing Salmon in Alaska , i was in the middle of river when all of a sudden i noticed a good size black bear also in the middle of the river. He was coming down stream to me, thankfully he exited onto the bank. The problem was the cat spruce were so thick you just never knew when one would pop out !

Last year fishing vermilion we encountered a bear on the north end of the lake in a small bay. We watched him for about 20 minutes while he was playing in the lake we were about 20 yards from him casting the opposite direction and just watched him. It was great. We never took any pictures though. Then this past Saturday we seen a bear up there again but it was closer to tower running down the road in the ditch
