Picked up my first new boat. I only had a 14ft lund with a 15 hp before this that I’ll still use for duck hunting but I’m excited to go onto new waters with my new setup. Bought it from Lacannes and everything went very smooth. Equipped it with a Helix 9 SI G2N, terrova with link and yamaha 115.

I know but I was told to not baby it when breaking it in and didn’t think the river in the spring is the best time to be going fast especially since I’ve never really fished or even boated on the river before. I plan on fishing the river this summer and consistently in the future but for now it sounds like I need to wait for the ice to come off the lakes. neutral

Not to baby it? I was told the opposite last year. I would read your manual for the break in procedure

My yamaha dealer told to break it in by the numbers.
He told me this was very important.

Nice, solid boat. These Alumacraft 17 footer Competitors are really affordable boats. I am surprised with how cheap they go new. I think if Alumacraft ever made an “XS” version of the Competitor, they would sell very well as a cheaper option to the Lund Impact XS. With so many people wanting a family boat, with the Competitor you are forced to get a Turbo Swing for tubing/skiing and still lack the jump seats and bow cushions that the Impact XS gives you.

    Anyway, nice boat.
