Pho soup. How many here have tried it.

Pho is a Vietnamese soup that’s made with all the good stuff: broth, noodles, beef (or other protein) and lots of mix-and-match toppings. The best thing about pho is that it’s such a restorative food—the comforting soup is savory and rich, while still feeling clean and refreshing at the same time.

I love Pho soup. There is only a few places here in saint Cloud that you can get it. The twin cities metro has a fair number of places that serve a real good Pho. Chicago probably has the most and best places for Pho.

I make a home version with Pho broth that I get in cans from one of the local Asian markets. It is good, but not as good as those at a good restaurant. The process of making the broth is a rather slow process. Someday I’m going to try to make the broth at home. I will most likely make a large batch and find a way to preserve it for later use.

Where do you find it in St Cloud? DK? Never had it or heard of it, but would give it a shot.

Had Pho one time and it was PHOnomenal. We were 10 miles into the BWCA in March which makes anything tasted good, but the Pho was unreal. It was prepared with homemade venison broth and backstrap flashed over the fire.

Pho is awesome, and tons of amazing places in the metro. University Ave in St. Paul could be renamed Pho Road, lots of great places! Ngon Bistro and iPho are 2 of the best imo.

On a related note, if you are not making bone broths at home, you should! It’s super easy and a good way to get another meal out of chicken, beef or pork. When I have freezer space, I’ll keep all my chicken bones (rotisserie chickens work great!) in a bag in the freezer until I have enough to make a broth. Then use that broth for whatever soup you want, including pho.

Quangs is good, I think St Paul University/Dale area has some good places too.

If you like pho, try kapoon or kopia too.

love it. also, tonkotsu ramen with chashu pork is delicious. I’m sure there are plenty of people that think they can make a quick pho in 15 minutes, but like you said, taste nothing like the real stuff. For me, I’m happy to support the local pho shop every once in a while and not have to keep all the stuff that goes into good pho.

MT Noodles on 85th Avenue & Broadway in Brooklyn Park has good pho. The hot & spicy chicken is also good.

Dong Khanh’s right next to Costco has a decent Pho. Not great but good. The white horse restaurant also has it on the menu. Theirs is decent as well. That is the only places I know of.

My two favorite meals are Pho and Tikka Masala. I made this recipe one time without using a pressure cooker and it turned out pretty good. The oxtail was damn good in there. https://altonbrown.com/recipes/pressure-cooker-beef-pho/

Not nearly as good as PhoViet 126 in Blaine. Everything I’ve had here has been nothing short of awesome. Excellent bahn mi too.

Just had a bowl of Pho for lunch. It sure hits the spot when your not feeling well. Wish we had a few more places to chose from in the area. The Viet-Tien market use to have a deli inside it that served Great Pho. That closed down at the start of Covid and last I knew was not going to reopen. I’m not sure why because they always seemed to be busy.

Pho is good and all but the Vietnamese egg rolls that are in most those restaurants are mouth-gasm worthy. Seriously, with that fish oil sauce, bomb diggity!!!

Couple pho places in Rochester. I love the soup but but care for the tendon and tripe stuff. I normally just get the meatball soup.I’ve never tried to make it at home. I think it’s hard to make it like the actual stuff at the Vietnamese places

Had it on Sunday. Got my 7 year old daughter hooked. Got some pho, egg rolls and dumplings. Soooo satisfying. Usually go about once a week.

How about the spring rolls? Anyone like them? I made them at home the other day but the wrapping is definetly harder than it looks rotflol

Pho is “epic”. Not the same but close is pork tonkatsu at Ramen Station in Woodbury. Actually it’s better imo.

I live less than a mile from it. Never tried pho, but the egg rolls are awesome. The place is always busy. Just wish someone in the area could make a good fried rice.

Gotta mention Pho Valley in Apple Valley. It’s usually only Asian customers of all ages, so I know it’s really good. If you order the extra large be prepared to take some home!

Try the pho. Your stomach will thank you later. #17 is what I always get. Bahn mi’s are really good too.

For those that consider yourselves uncultured and afraid to try it, this type of food has mostly familiar flavors and nothing that should turn anyone off. They just seem to know how to put the right flavors and textures together to make the food craveworthy.

Not a fan of Tendon or tripe either. I normally get mine with sliced brisket or sliced sirloin. The meatballs are ok as well.

I love spring rolls ( not the fried kind. The ones with rice paper wrap ) we make it often at home. It does take a little practice getting the wrapping process down. You have to serve them with a fresh homemade peanut sauce. Spring rolls are rather healthy and its nice that each person can choose what they want theirs made with

Being the uncultured swine that I am, I had never had, nor heard of, pho (pronounced FUH for those of you that dont know) until recently. I’m a big fan. Easily exceeded my expectations. Have only had it a few times at a few different places, but I want to say the best was in a small shop in Pine City.

What was the place In pine. That is close to me and I have never tried pho so I’d give it a whirl
