Performance Engineering Fish House

Curious if anyone else is waiting for a fish house to be completed by Tom at Performance Engineering?

We ordered a custom wheelhouse from Tom after reading great reviews. During our review search we read the lead time is typically double what he claims. He claimed 3-4 months at time of purchase and we’re now 1-2 months away from 1 year. We anticipated a delay but we’re getting close to ice season.

Wondering if anyone has similar experiences or reviews to share?

    Thanks

This sounds similar to the guys ordering boats at the boat shows. Dealers said 8 weeks and turns into 5 months.

Seems like a terrible business model. Typically a business should under promise and over deliver. Not the opposite.

Not to mention the time and effort it takes to return phone calls and emails from people wondering what is going on…

Maybe it’s time to make an in-person visit, and find out WTF is going on?

seriously just do a search on the internet. I don’t feel the need to draw attention to a persons business but HSO has extensive posts about it. The owner even chimed into one of them and started an argument. For what its worth, my understanding from reading through them is that the quality of the work is top notch but the communication and timeframes are not.

I am sure they are just set back by the rain delays like my buddies pull barn.
If you are almost a year out I would assume you would be getting your house soon. Most of the complaints about his lead time have not been that far out. Have you contacted them lately?

We’ve been in touch with Tom at least monthly for the last several months (email and phone).

As I stated previously, we did plenty of internet searches prior to the purchase and we expected delays. I haven’t seen much for reviews in the last year or two, so I was wondering if others are in the same situation.

    Update:

Tom at Performance Engineering sent us our money back as we wanted to look for something else without thousands of dollars being tied up and after two months of him saying ‘give me two more weeks.’ During our last conversation about receiving our money back, he indicated he would give us a call when the house was finished and if we hadn’t purchased anything we could buy the finished house from him.

We’ve been searching for a little over one month and have not found what we’re looking for, so I email him back to confirm he intends on reaching out when the house is complete. Supposedly its been ‘almost finished’ for months now. He says ‘I thought you had something picked out.’ I reiterated our last conversation, he responds with ‘Its not finished, Maybe it would be best to look for something else’ which basically confirms my suspicion that the house hasn’t even been started.

This is a completely fair and honest review of terrible service we’ve received from Performance Engineering and the owner, Tom Ische. I wouldn’t recommend anyone do business with this guy.

    Good luck this ice season!
