Perfect hook job

Fishing pike on Pepin this morning I managed a near perfect hook job on a 1” Shad fry. Using a Skitterpop no less.

Did ya catch any pike ? Nothing for use on Saturday .

We fished a 1.5foot deep weed flat and had pike chasing these small shad until about 9:30 this morning, then they just shut down. We had three follows and one hit and miss. Millions of these shad were hiding in the weeds and the pike would charge in and grab a mouthful. We saw pike in the 36″ + range come clean out of the water chasing these suckers. The one hit/miss I had came on a bone-colored Whopper Popper. One boil behind the same bait had a tail all of ten inches high.

I’ll bet we saw 200 boils from pike chasing the small shad.

Bug casings were all over the place.

And fbrm, that dink got hung while I was twitching the pop thru a wide shoal of the critters. Its the first time that’s happened for me.
