I’d start by googling “mississippi backwater perch”. Otherwise just follow everybody else west down Hwy 12 to Big Stone or Webster if you’re up for a little road trip.

Decent sized perch in the Metro area are rather hard to find. Every once in awhile you hear of a hot bite on some small lake or private pond. If its decent size and #’s you are after, you most likely will need to drive a little from the metro. Like Tornadochaser said – Bigstone and the Webster area are both excellent area for nice perch within a fairly short driving distance.

I appreciate for tips, this is my first ice fishing. My little guy loves catching those perch’s. We mostly fish only on open water. Thought I show my kiddo ice fishing for perch’s. Thanks I’ll look into back water Mississippi access.

If you don’t care about size, I got a lake in SE MN where your kiddo can catch 100 easy any day. We are talking 8″ average. Otherwise any lure with waxies near bottom gets it done. Might have to fight off bluegills tho. Little perch easy to find, big perch not so much.
