I’ve taken the week off from work from Christmas to New Years for the last 3 years. I try to dedicated it to a full week of ice fishing. It’s awesome to be out when there are no crowds and I to have a lake to myself. This year I explored some water in southern Idaho that I’ve never fished and also some old stand by water in northern Utah where I’m from. I just wanted to share a few pictures of some of the nice fish that I was pleasantly surprised with! One of the new lakes in Idaho I tried just kept spitting out bass and nice sized perch consistently, I hit it two days in a row. Enjoy!

That first picture is a Funny looking Bass or Perch grin How big was you biggest perch? it looks long but not real fat. Is that how big perch in Idaho and Utah look? I’m use to the really Fat ones we see here in Minnesota and the Dakota’s. Those are some nice looking fish. I’m still waiting for good ice to get out here. We should be good to go in another week or so. Had 5-7″ of fresh snow on a light layer of ice did not help. Good luck the rest of your season.

HAHA that rainbow snuck in there somehow whistling

This is the first time I’ve got into any perch with real size to get giddy about. I know that up at Lake Cascade the perch up there pack on the meat, this one I caught was skinny and long 14″. It was the biggest perch I’ve ever held. I’m guessing most of the larger perch in the area are like that. I caught a few between 10-12 inches that seemed to be chunkier. Their definately not brutes like you’d find in the dakotas.
