Perch…. an imitation

I thought I needed to cook up a couple perch to go with the other panfish, namely the bluegills and pumpkinseeds, so I dug thru some blanks and found a couple shad divers that fit the profile and had at it. I’m thinking that these two look about as real as real can get save for when they are all dolled up in spawning colors.

Thanks guys. Age. Boredom with the weather. A guy can get a lot done when it involves sitting on one’s arse.

Those are amazing Tom. You must have a steady hand.

While it doesn’t show up super well in the picture as you see it here, by expanding the picture you’ll be able to see the fine scale texture I got using the fine scale netting. In the hand these perch are just uncanny.

Jimmy, do you ever take these things to completions?

I did some plastics in a display at our county fair a bunch of years ago and took a first place in my age division of the open area. I took the same display to the State Fair and took third in my age division out of a field of over 1500 contestants, again in an open area.

I’m thinking I might put together a block of these baits and hit the county fair up again and if they do well , the State Fair once more. We’ll see.

If you need someone to test them, I am on vacation all next week.

    Another work of art…

If I could paint like that, not sure if I’d use them out if fear of losing them, or using them with the opportunity to paint more!

What are you clear coating them with? I’ve been reading trying to figure out which way to go with the final step…

I use CS Seal Coat, the 4-ounce size allows me to dip these baits up to the bill.
