Quick report hit lake pepin sat pulled cranks all over the place found the pest bite in 8 to 11 feet of water. Never really put a solid pattern together but caught 7 walleye-sauger over 15 inches and about the same under 15. Had plenty of wind to help stay cool. Stayed south of Lake City with one pass in Buger King bay.

Good info. I have the hardest time making it down there even once per year but I like trolling up the eyes down there. Did you use planer boards at all?

We didnt seemed way to windy to mess with them. Had crawlers with too but never switched over to try them.

Cool. I hate using boards. Gotta get down there and deploy some Denver Rigs!

Do people catch fish in Burger King Bay? I always see people fishing there but every time I try I never have any luck, its probably an error on my part. On a side note we almost had the hang glider land on us last time we made a pass through there so that was pretty cool. Looking forward to getting out this weekend for some time on the water.

My son and I hit Pepin on July 1st. Only had 3 1/2 hours to fish that evening, but we had pretty steady action the entire time. We pulled 3-ways with various live bait presentations. Crawler on a slow-death hook produced the most fish, but smallest sizes. Leech on a floater produced fewer fish, but all bigger. Night crawler harnesses produced a few fish, but nowhere near the output from the other two presentations. 15-16 FOW was key. Deeper or shallower was unproductive. 1-MPH seemed to be the magic speed. Mostly walleye with only a couple sauger mixed in. Largest fish was 22 inches. Still a lot of walleye just under 15 inches, but had enough legal fish for a good family fish fry over the holiday weekend.

Saw a lot of surface activity. Not sure if they were white bass. Not the typical white bass multiple fish boils on the surface. Never saw the fish surface, but they had minnows flying out of the water all around us. Something was sure working the schools of minnows…Maybe pike working the area.

Went down on Saturday, July 2nd…trolled shad raps, flickershads and wally divers. Doubled up on 2 eaters the first 15 mins and then didn’t have much luck after that. Going to have to give the crawlers and leaches a try this weekend if the weather cooperates. Can’t complain about last weekend, weather was perfect. I was out on Sunday the 3rd but didn’t fish. Noticed huge floating batches of dead mayflies and several landing in our pontoon. Will those hang around long?

I took Ma to a friend’s in Lake City and fished for three hours from the breakwater. Largemouth, crappies and white bass all on a floating rap.

There were a few fly casings in the water but I didn’t see any large rafts of dead bugs or casing like one would see if there was a huge hatch.

I saw one fishing boat in this area, but plenty of people casting from the pier and breakwater.

the mayfly run ran through p2 last weekend pretty good. Even had flys up at the house here a few blocks away. Pool 3 was littered with shells last tuesday but did not see any on Saturday. I would assume Pepin was in the same frame but know you guys see alot more volume of them down that way. Usually one solid run lasting under a week and they are all done from what I see Ryan…. That is up river.
