    What the _ _ _ _!!!
How come sometimes they peel easy pz? Today I peeled a dozen and it looked like I used a chainsaw. doah

Is it the egg itself? Is it better to peel warm or cooled down?

Dang near drove me to drink! (ok i was already drinkin)

i’m far from a hard boiled egg expert but i think the fresher the eggs are harder the harder to peel.

pretty sure we let them get cold first…………

Put the egg in a large glass add some water cover and shake until shell is cracked, it should peal real EZ.

How are you cooking them? I use my air fryer and the shell always just falls right off. Once they are done cooking, put them in cold water right away.

After cooking the eggs, drain the hot water, fill the pan with cold tap water, and just crack the shells a little on the side of the pot and let them cool off. Not a 100% but most restaurants do it that way.

That’s the best way. Older eggs seem to peel easier also

Silicone egg boiler… If you do alot of eggs often, these things are worth it. Looks like a gimmick but they work well. I am pretty sure you can buy them for around a buck each and they save you from ever peeling an egg again.

Side note, I have never thought of giving the dog a hard boiled egg… Next time I am boiling them up, she is getting one! I would always just give her a raw one, or fry one for her.

As others have said its all on how old the egg is. I usually wait at least 2 weeks from purchase 3 is better. I have tried every trick in the book but if you are cooking fresh eggs a few might peel well but not the whole batch.

Like a couple of posters have said it’s the freshness.

We have laying hens and we have to store their eggs in the fridge for about 3 weeks or so if we’re going to have hard boiled. Anything earlier than that and it will take 5 minutes to peel them. But I think there are ways to get around that (google it), we’ve just never looked into it.

When I boil them, I put some vinegar in the water. It helps peel them better.

How much is “some”? serious question Teaspoon in 6 cups water? 5 teaspoons, more?

Wait until the water is boiling before adding cold eggs. When they are done cooking, drain quickly and run cold water over the eggs for about a minute. Solved all my egg peeling problems.

If you do that don’t crack them unless you like vinegar taste

I have been doing my eggs in a instant pot. I think its not any faster but fresh eggs or old eggs peel very easily. Works for me. Chain saw thats funny!!!

I started steaming them instead of boiling them years ago. They turn out prefect every time and seem to peel way easier. I love hard boiled eggs so I almost always do a dozen or so each week. Can’t remember the last time I had a hard time peeling one. I also go direct from the steamer into a pot of ice cold water to cool. I keep adding ice till the ice doesn’t melt anymore.

I’ve done them on my pellet grill so I suppose a air fryer would work pretty good too

Really, if your stomach can handle Corona it should be able to handle a couple of egg shells.

it’s never easy no matter what trick you use. i feel your pain! we have chickens and the fresh eggs are the worst to peel. i have had best luck boiling then cooling the eggs in cold water but its not 100%. ive even poked holes in the shell to let water in because it seems like if there is some water under the shell, it peels like a dream….never 100% either.
my advice is drink more and worry less!

I asked my mom tonight, she said make sure the eggs are in the fridge for 2 weeks before boiling. Otherwise they suck to peel

Yea from what I hear it’s true that the older the egg the easier they are to peel. Also what gim said is another one I’ve heard(and tried)- put a splash of vinegar into the water to help with peeling. Have even cracked one or two and never dealt with a “vinegary” taste.

To be fair, I’ve never really had one that’s “hard” to peel but may take a few extra seconds and be kind of annoying… guess it all depends on if the payoff is worth it.. lol.

All that said, I usually just gently place some eggs into a pot with enough water to cover them and boil for 10-12 minutes, place the pot in the sink and run cold water over them for a few minutes and then put them in the fridge. Turn out fine IMO

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk
