    What a great time!
Had 5000 acres to play around in, we hit about 8 towns hard.

    My longest confirmed was ~450yds.
    Best flip was a vertical 720 )
Love the ‘Whooomp’ of the impact.
I haven’t done inventory yet, but i probably shot ~450-550 times.
At least 30 confirmed prairie poodles with lots and lots of the ‘maybes’ that fall into holes.
My scope worked awesome. Even at those long distances it seemed adaquate, though more zoom wouldn’t hurt.
We shot 5 rattlers the first two days.

Had 10 guys. It was a war zone. Which made the farmer quite happy!

I probably spent the most time shooting. I think the mid-day sun kept all but me in the shade; which was kind of fun to have a 500yd town all to yourself!!
Thanks for all the advice on clothing, etc. I was comfy all weekend.
Didn’t have to tighten the nut on the back of the gun much at all.
I certainly prefer the caldwel shooting pod over the cabelas shooting mat – for visibility and comfort. I could sit for hours on a chair plinking away, but after a few minutes laying down i was uncomfortable. Plus, the shooting pod allowed me to make quick 90 degree movements where laying down that is difficult.

It was outdoor camping at it’s best. Bugs Bugs and lots of deet 100 kept me happy. Tons of sunscreen kept me from burning. I really liked the cooling towel bandana. That’s awesome. Also helps keep my bald head out of the sun/bugs.

A great trip that we will do again!

I’ve got a few landscape pics i could upload. For the most part though i was in my weekend mode; antisocial with the world and focused on the activity at hand. Phone stayed in the truck most the weekend. )

Here’s all the boys lined up.

Terrific! Glad you had a good time.

You can see the advantage of the Caldwell tripod in the panoramic photo you posted. You’re sitting up in your chair with a great view while the prone guys are imitating their quarry by prairie dogging it to get a better look. That up/down/up/down gets OLD after about 3 repetitions…

I wish I was going this year, but I’ll be back in the saddle next year.

Really glad you had a good time. It’s terrific fun when you get the weather and the dog towns to shoot.

Oh, and the booooom—–WHOP! That’s the best sound ever!

One tactic these guys like to use is to line up 3-4 guys and get everyones scope on a dog. THen countdown 3..2..1..Boom. Free fire after the initial shot if missed. We took out a lot of dogs this way. Best part was when everyone missed, and the dog hunkers down, and i’m the only one who can see it for the second shot. Boom. Whap! The guys laying on the ground enjoyed that audible confirmation! Only problem with the group shooting is getting everyone on target. That can take some time depending on who your sitting with.

They threw some range flags on the towns before i got there thursday night; and that was helpful to point out individual dogs.

I think you’ll see each one of them with a shooting rest. I could tell the older guys necks were hurting for sure. The only thing sore for me is a small bruise above my knee – where my elbow rested all weekend holding aim. )
