Panoptix can’t see 6ft off bottom and 3.5in tubes

    Good evening,

I am curious if anyone has trouble with their PS-22 seeing the bottom. I was ice fishing a flat in 70 of water for lake trout, but my sonar couldn’t see above my lure 6ft from the bottom. In addition it had trouble picking up that lure at that depth. I’ve messed with the Color again and gain, but did not see much improvement.

You are not alone. I don’t have a ps22 but an lvs32 and it as well has its limitations in deep water and that’s why I still bring along my mechanical flasher.

What Tom said. 22 and 32 are only good to about 40-50 feet. That is the main reason I upgraded to the 34. The 34 doesn’t work as deep as the marketing department says it does either.

When I fish Lakers with the PS-22 I also drop my GT-10 down and run 2D on the side (not flasher mode, but regular 2D) then zoom in 2d from the bottom to the top third or so of the column.

(Example: 100′ of water, I’ll zoom in from 100-30’/40′)

The downside when doing the split screen, you can’t zoom in the panoptix like you can when it’s on a dedicated page.

That tool is not designed for that type of job. You are too deep. Most lake trout guys run an LVS 62.
