Got out Sunday for prefishing for the big crappie tourney on clearwater lake. Unfortunately, it was too windy to search out the main lake reefs that hold the big slabs. We also found the spawn has yet to get started. We ended up in the back bays to get out of the waves, we found a few decent slabs with an occasional largemouth bass or sunfish in the mix. saw a bowfin, but couldn’t get it to bite.
A 1/32 oz jig with a culprit paddeltail did it for me, mostly tightlining, but I got a couple with floats, and one nice one sight fishing around some emerging pads in real shallow water.
