Slow Fishing on Spring Lake But Still a Great Time

My hubby Billy, his parents, and I went fishing this afternoon on Spring Lake in the Spring Lake Township (a suburb of Prior Lake). The sun was hot and the breeze was cool. I had on flip-flops and a hoodie, while Billy’s mom was bundled up in long underwear, a jacket and windbreaker, and a scarf! I fished with my standard setup: my ultralight open-faced from Galayans, slip bobber, a pretty colored jig, and a big ol’ hunk of nightcrawler. The jig I was using was neon yellow with a skirt. I paid no attention to what the others were using for a set up because I was the only one catching any fish! Billy’s dad eventually pulled in a few small Crappies and a Sunny or two. I was the only one using nightcrawlers, and they questioned my need for them on the way down there… Guess who’s laughing now! Though, my fingernails were black from pinching the crawlers into smaller pieces and my hands still reak like fish from cleaning the few keepers, but it was a fabulous day and Billy’s mom had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Were you shore fishing or did you guys get out in the new boat? It’s hard to tell from the pictures.

So tell me the truth now…In the second picture was Billy hung up or was he fighting a fish with his flyrod

We actually took Billy’s dad’s boat out this time. The sunnies were staying so close to the docks and under the boats in the shade, it was difficult to get in there without snagging the dock itself!

Billy was fly flishing with his flyrod but didn’t catch anything. Only a few bites. It was pretty windy out there and there wasn’t much action. We all had fun though. Billy amazed us with his ability to unhook a dock or landing equipment with just a few flicks of his wrist.
