Tried crappie in deep wood this Monday morning and they have definitely turned on. I caught around 30 nice big boys in less than two hours. I kept a dozen for a nice fish fry on Tuesday, and let the rest go back. It was a blast! This is a fall cold water bite because I checked this particular spot at times throughout the summer months with no success. I was using 1/16 oz.hair jigs, catching about half on pure white color and half on a red head, & black and green body. I prefer to tightline and toss out and swim the jig over the tops of the underwater brush. It seemed to help with good hook set to slightly bend out the hook point on the jig. Again, it was a beautiful morning, great fishing(my best crappie day of the year by far)…alot of fun. I’m crossing my fingers for a long fall of decent weather… this could get addictive! BW
