Went panfishing today on a beautiful Monday…the weather was great and so was the bite. I had the best success on wood in deep water in the sloughs just in off the main channel. I’ve tried this wood all summer with limited success but today, the large bluegill plus some bonus crappie were biting. I don’t know if this means the bluegill are starting to come off the wingdams or not but, I would wonder if this isn’t the case. I was just using small plastic purple fleck one inch worms threaded on a #6 red crappie hook. with a split shot 6 inches up the line. It was deeper water but, I was catching them 6 to 7 feet deep. A very simple setup and alot of fun. I think the good fall bite is on! BW
