I spent a few days last week looking for pannies in the NW Metro. My plan was to go out and find a few big schools for the boy and I to hit over the weekend. I spend a few days with friends new and old. On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of sharing my boat with fellow IDO’er Brad. Our plan was to hit a few lakes in the afternoon, and see what we could come up with. The first lake we hit, had a few fish up shallow, but not what I had expected to see. So after about an hour, we had 5-6 crappies and a hand full of bass. We decided to pull the plug and go hit another lake. Which was the best move of the day. We found our way back into a very shallow black bottom bay, which was loaded with fish. We found crappies up to 12 inches, and lots and lots of smaller fish. This was what I had hopes of finding for the little man. I had a great time Brad, we will have to do it again..
I also got to share the boat with an old neighbor, and good fishing buddy, Jessie. We went out and found the fish to be very aggressive, and willing to eat just about anything you put in front of their faces. Minnows lip hooked, on a pink and or white jig was the key for us this day, however, I think just about anyting would have worked with the aggressive nature of the fish. Seeing this, I wasted no time getting the little guy out in the boat.
