My last couple of times out on the river last week i was in search of some shallow water gills on beds and came up empty…my watertemp is around 67 deg and the water clarity is fair. I have pulled some smaller gills but have not yet found them on what I call “Spawning Beds”

I think the gills usually do their thing at or around 75 degrees and unless the water temp was up there at our first warm spell and they spawned out then, they just haven’t reached their mark yet…

what your your thoughts and or findings

Usually the last week of May into the first two weeks of June for gills on the beds. I grew up fishing pool 10 and that is when we always found them on the beds up in Mudhen. Haven’t been up there to do that in years. The trouble is that is exactly when the walleyes are the easiest to find and catch.
