With the temps what yesterday and today have seen and with similar temps forecast for tomorrow, the mind is starting to think spring. I dug into a box of molds and came up with this one that will see action just about the time the crappies start laying on the young frogs around lily pads. Of course a bass might like these too and I have no aversion to tussling with one of them.

This winter has been tough on me and finally playing with this stuff is getting me out of the late winter funk I’ve been in.

These are 1.75″. They have enough bulk to fish them on a plain hook on an ultra light rod, but the soft plastic formula I use in making them floats them like a balloon.

I had some time this afternoon and messed with the mold and plastic again. This one is done in my favorite of all color combos for crappie…walleye/sauger too.

The green ones are a super natural looking frog, maybe the most natural I have ever seen.

Here’s one of the frogs mounted on a new jig design. The head weight is 1/32 but the hook has a 35 degree leg instead of the usual 90 degree leg. The “eye forward” nature of this head should allow this little frog to swim like it was in the Olympics.
