Well it’s that time of year when the kids are on me for doing some fishing. We had such a great time last year taking my now 5 yr olds out last year. Has anyone been out giving the bluegills a try on the wingdams? I’m looking for any info on pools 6&7. thanks in advance. enjoy the outdoors

I found some gills on the wing dams on pool 5a last weekend. With the water coming down they should be out there. We did not find a lot but there were a few out there.

    Good luck

Thanks for the report. I’m hoping to get out and give it a try in the near future. If my schedule doesn’t get busy. Enjoy the water!

Went out Friday morning. Did ok. Brought home 10 nice gills. A little slower Saturday morning, but had both kids that morning. a lot more helping than fishing. Still good times.

We were out near Wabasha on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, hitting the wings. We caught 10, 15, & 6 respectively. Most were in the 8″ range. Our biggest was 10.75″ what a hog. We also caught walleye each day(too small), smallmouth, largemouth, & of course, we located the sheep herd, too. Each day we were out about four hours. About 30-40 total fish per day. Red worms on ice fishing jigs, dragged upstream of the dams in 3-10 feet of water. Fun, and actually, not too warm!

I have been out at least once a week since this report…..hitting the same wings, or drifting along the rip-rap each time. My bro-in-law has been out 3-5 days each week. Every day has produced 10-20 gills, at east one catfish & a walleye, along with smallies, white bass, and rock bass filling out the mixed bag. And yes, we continue to be awesome at catching sheephead! We haven’t had a bad day, and what makes it more exciting is that you never know what is on the other end when you react to the bite! I will include pictures with one of these posts. My computer won’t allow me to attach pictures lately. It might be jealous.
