Some more pictures from today. Really getting the hang of it now. All of these today were caught on a piece of junk fly I tied 5 years ago. One big 8.75″ bull and then some nice 7.5-8″ fish today, and a bunch of little tiny ones. Oh and one monster bass.

You should have the bass mounted and pin it to your hat!

I’d put it on a number 2 hook and let it free….

Went down to the river and got some whites on the fly this afternoon. The first 10 minutes they were biting like crazy, all small, so I didnt take any pictures. I kept saying soon as I get a good one I’ll snap a couple pictures, then they quit hitting the flies. I needed a white or chart streamer but all I had was a #6 black wooly bugger, I got a few on that though.

Boy do those whites hit like a freight train! I was doing short quick strips and the line would jump a foot in the air when they hit. Quite a bit of fun on a 5x leader and 3# tippet.

Great pics. That is something I have always wanted to do just have no idea what to buy, or how to fly fish.

Ask away here on IDO. There are lots of guys here that helped me so much the last few days!

I have to say, it is not hard at all. It is VERY hard to master, but to get to the point where you can cast/fish well enough to go have fun is 15 minutes of work. I suggest anyone who is interested in it to go give it a shot, it is a BLAST.

More from today. They LOVED the #10 orange fly! Caught a dozen or so around 7″ and one keeper around 8″. Lost mr. orange on a big fish, I’d guess a sheephead. Had a mini mr. orange (#14) but all I could catch on that was little 3″ fish. Even caught a couple on a brown dry fly today, one jumped clear out of the water to hit it! Fishing is getting better and better.

Sorry I havent posted any pictures the last couple of days, the wind has been backwards for my spot and the corps of engineers decided that bluegill bed was the perfect spot to park a barge yesterday.

Maybe tomorrow if its not raining. My order of wooly buggers will be here tomorrow so my plan is to target a spot where the sheephead are feeding on shad eggs and try to hook one with the fly. A sheepshead on the fly? Sounds awesome to me!

Here’s another species to add to the list. I caught 17 crappie, 2 bass, and 1 bluegill on a #12 chartreuse wooly bugger. All caught in less than 2′ of water 1′ off the shore.
