My open water season finally started this evening on a small lake in W. Hennepin county. Numbers not great but sure fun to fish open water on a lake again. There was still some Ice on the bigger bays but it should be gone by this weekend.

Looks like fun. To much fishing to do nowadays. Hate to say my spring time crappie fishing has taken a back seat for a few years now.
I made it out today to an area with some moving water and did pretty darned good. All plastics bite today. Tried the gulp 1″ minnows and they wouldn’t even look at them. Purple/chartreuse tail minnow imitation 1.75″ got the job done.
The worse part of the day was the wind. It was brutal.
