I love those fat perch pictures. Dare I say perch are the pretties gamefish in Minnesota?

Nice! But I got to say, crappies sure look dumb when they come up and get lock jaw. They are the cupcakes of the fish kingdom. That thing looks like he was just told his wife was cooked or he’s being waterboarded.

That’ll do it too! I usually slap mine when they look like that before releasing them.

This perch was number 28 in our Clam on Bitter Lake in South Dakota last Monday. Our party of five caught our limit on day 1 of a three day trip. Good perch & crappies in spurts, but keeper walleyes were tough to find! Fun trip to break up January.

Two of the crappies we caught on our last half day in SD. Another great trip on the ice with Joe Honer & Kevin Pitzl from Eden…..

Loring Pond does have some really nice crappies in it, and some bonus ice goldfish. Haven’t tried it this year though. The looks you get ice fishing that thing can be pretty funny.

St Croixer wanted to go up there a couple years ago to try and catch a goldfish through the ice.

Its best to pre-drill your holes for that. If the action slows in one hole, move to the next.

    ok, I am done.
