Iowa Wipers

    Gotta chance to chase some Wipers down in Iowa recently. we ended up catch a few really nice ones. No huges ones but fun fights.
    heres our biggest about 5lbs

    Some we kept for the table

    As a bonus, which was a great fight on wally gear and in current
    a big ole Asian carp
    and yes it was disposed properly =)

    No they don’t bite, i believe they only eat algae n such. i snagged hit right behind the dorsal fin. i thought i had a new Iowa state record Wiper at first lol

    My general rule with fish and dogs is that there are no ugly ones. I might have to make an exception for the big head carp.

    Doug, it is not a Silver carp. I don’t know that big heads have a reputation for jumping when startled, but I could be wrong. Although you are right, those could do some damage if they leaped into the boat.
