Pool 2 – Any crappie action going down?

Anybody got any reports you’d share about pool 2 and if anyone’s getting any crappie action? I’ve seen a ton of boats out, but it looks like mainly walleye guys on there trying to cash in on the early ice out.

I’m going to pull the winter cover off the boat today and I was hoping to try some crappie action this weekend to see if I can find a few.

Obviously, I don’t expect specific spots. Anything you’d be willing to share about what kind of structure they’re holding near, how you’re fishing, etc.

    Thanks.

Only fished them once or twice with limited success. Other’s will chime in though. If I were going to try them I’d probably check out the lakes and sloughs: hog, river, and spring, as well grey cloud. Water in those areas should be in the 60’s or close now. Get some plastic or bait in close to those laydowns and report back!

Caught crappies on the rocks at the dam last time I was out. Not the pretty place to fish on pool 2 but fish where there.

    Thanks JP.

I was thinking along the same lines, anywhere back out of the current where the water’s warmed up and maybe is attracting more baitfish.

I’ve heard some talk about some limited success around some of the marinas. But I wonder if that’s just because more guys fish there vs back in the boonies.

I’m also wondering if there’s a better time of day? Middle of the day when the sun has the most impact? Right at dusk, etc.

If you can get way back into the long finger in Grey cloud there are some MONSTER crappies back there. Last year I caught a few 2LB + fish on bass baits back in there.
