Yo guys! Got up a few hours prior to sunrise yesterday, jumped in the car and headed north with no specific plans in mind except to fish somewhere! I argued with myself for a while on where to go and made a decision. Got out onto the lake with my car actually ( I have no idea how I made it) but once I got a little farther out- my chassis bottomed out and I was stuck Hoofed it from there out to a 24′ hole. Had a pretty sick day on my own and just spanked the crappies. Pink marmooska tungsten with the absolute biggest wax worms I’ve ever seen were the ticket to success. The fish were on a tear all day, never staying in one hole for longer than 60 seconds, so being very mobile was key to putting fish on the ice. They were suspended5-10′ off the bottom- and once again- presentation(the chase) was crucial for getting them to bite.
What a great day it was, and the weather couldn’t have been any better Fish were all in the 12-14″ range. C&Red over 50 Crappies/Gills, but did bring home a limit for some crappie cakes tonight!
Tight lines everyone!
