Stingers

I’ve been playing with another new mold, this one to shoot a stinger style of panfish bait. I fished this identical bait a lot last year on Lake Pepin with some unbelievable results, but these that I have done have a much softer, active plastic. The colors I have done them in are a different class from those I ordered too. As soon as the water softens and warms a bit I have every intention of trying these little jewels out.

The body on these is 1/4″ diameter and just a hair under 1/2″ long. The overall length is 1.5″. These fish much like the Southern Pro crappie stingers but the plastic quality really sets the two apart.

I rigged one up on a 1/32 collarless head sporting a #4 Sickle hook and can tell you that for crappies it is a killer combination without having had them in the water.

    Tom,

I’ve seen your posts in that past and it looks like you create some cool plastics.

Do you ever sell any to people?

Why wait till spring they look like they could be deadly late ice for bullgills and crappies.

    Hop….

I don’t wait to use these. In fact I had them out a while last week but the crappies wanted something else. I had the something else along too, so lucky me. lol The fish preferred a smaller profile plastic and once that size issue was met the need for any kind of enhancement, like a piece of waxie, went right out the window and it was plastic all the way. I’ve cast the southern pro stingers into open water between two sheets of ice and caught the heck out of crappies before. A repeat using these is soon to be had again.

As I mentioned in the opening post, I fished the heck out of these all last summer, but didn’t get my hands on any until around June. Having the mold now really lets me play with colors.
