You’re killing us. Since I’ve never done this kind of work I’m extremely interested on how you do this. Real cool. They must work great, but they do look like something from my high school Sex Ed class.

Tom , those are “true works of art”, now you need someone such as myself to “field test ” them for you !!!

lol….I’ve had plenty of offers to take these for a test drive.

The one shown here in orange is a 1″ ice minnow bait, but it actually tapes out at about 1.3″. I fished a few of these I had ordered last fall and early winter. Crappies really like them. The ones I have done are done in a very soft plastic. Soft but relatively tough. One person fished some of these in Iowa streams for winter trout and they held up really well under those conditions.

There are several schools as far as making these things and other plastics. Using two injectors and blending blocks is a common practice to get the two-color look, but I subscribe to the single injector and hand pour the one side of the mold to get a nice mix. Blending blocks maybe are quicker in some regards but they take away the uniquness of hand building the baits. Its a slower process but they certainly do not look commercial like blending block baits appear.

Casting jigs is way easier to get into. Shooting plastic is very, very expensive to get set up.

Way cool… and I also would offer to test them on crappies and gills in SE WI, or anywhere.

    Tom –

These are getting more incredible every day! Your website has quite a collection too. Crappies are not safe!

I have some sun to work with today and this pic shows the real colors a bit better than the other in this thread and it shows the color combo used in two different but similar baits.

Tom, sweet looking baits! My vote is for oystershell with a red fleck, smoke/w gold fleck. I have been using the FinSfish 1-3/4″ in similar colors for years with outstanding success.
