plastics playtime

I got to shopping around the other day and found another shad mold similar to the ones shown earlier, but this one is smaller and the tail is super nervous. I can’t hold the tail steady. The bait is about 1.25″ – 1.3″ inches in length. The pic also has a dime for comparison.

All I had at hand for eyes tonight was a 4mm eye and I put a few on to see how they looked and I like them even though they are a bit over-sized. I may order some 2mm eyes to try too, but i think that with the larger eyes it gives the bait that really “young” look. More like food.

The mold cavities make the two color shots a challenge but then I haven’t got ideal lighting after the sun goes down and fine work kind of goes with the sun with my old eyes. Learning a new mold is part of it too.

This little plastic adventure is getting interesting. I am absolutely amazed at the things I can do by adding a little of this or a smidge of that. In 4 ounces of the raw plastic 1 drop of the colorant makes a huge difference in how things come out in the end. I don’t know why I waited so darned long to try this stuff.

Bored again today so I cooked up another nice color combo. I’ll be calling this one Baby Bow. The pic is of the 1″ shad shown in the previous pic. Had to shoot this one inside. I got a pic out in the sun and the colors got dizzy in a hurry. This pic is a ver accurate depiction of the actual colors, not the op art I got outside.
