Hello….we are heading up to Hackensack the second week in Aug. 6th to the 12th…..we stay on Webb lake. There are some fish in Webb but we like to jump to some other lakes if possible in search of some nice panfish.

Would any one know of some good lakes in the Hackensack area to go exploring for some Nice panfish ?

Thanks for any suggestions or tips,

    Mike

Some of the biggest gills and crappies I’ve seen north of the Mason-Dixon line were from Leech. That was quite a few years ago, but I assume it’s still good since most fish for walleyes there.

Just about every lake in that area has pretty good panfish, some are better then others. I know the gills were everywhere on Wab when we were just up there. Find lilly pads and you will find a ton of gills, your going to have to sort if your hunting for bulls. Leech has some amazing panfish but your going to do a lot of run and gun until you find them, it’s a needle in the haystack thing, if you find em…they will be monsters. I would do some diging on the MN DNR site and find some smaller lakes that look good as a back up plan if the wind kicks up. Good luck and have fun, the bite was great last week for just about everything we fished, except eyes.

We fished Woman, and Child the last week of June. Found some huge gills in Child. Just fish the pads close to shore, crawlers for bait worked the best.

    Good luck, Mike

Thanks for the suggestions…I would love to get back on Leech but time and my boat isn’t that well suited to the big water.

Although I can remember going out as a kid with a 16′ resort boat with a 45hp on it and getting along just fine..

I was hopeing to find some smaller lakes to search in.

Thanks Bob for the report….where on Webb do you stay ?
We stay on the North east corner. Been going for the last 5 yrs and just love it….

    Thanks
