Friday we hit the shallow bays (Black/Seaton/ect looking for crappies, water temps were 47 in the morning, 49 when we left.
Nobody seemed to be hitting them shallow and the bigger parts of the lake were pretty windy so we called it a day about 3pm.

We tried crawlers, minnows/bobers and jigs with and with out minnows, just couldn’t get any bites.

Seems we were there a bit early, but I’d think a few sunny days and it’ll pick up..maybe..??

Allen, with the cool temps the last few mornings, the water has cooled.

I was on a lake by Mankato today and there were no fish shallower than 16fow.

The water temp I found the warmest was 43. The majority of the fish were out in the deeper water arounf 25-40 feet suspended and no matter what I threw at them, they would not go. They had so many baitfish by them I would guess they could not even locate my bait.

We need some warmer water to get them in shallow and that may be a week with the temps we are having.

I have fished this lake for years and I believe I know the spots come springtime when they spawn. Nothing in the shallows.

We’ve normally done pretty well in them spots fishing the day before the annual crappie contest, but it has usually been warmer, least we got out..:)

We may get out next sunday and try again, we can hit Halsteds also, thanks.
