Today was my inaugural trip of the new ice season and it was a great day to be on the ice of pool 4. We found anywhere from 3-6 inches of good clear ice in most spots with about 2-3 inches of white ice on top of the good ice. We targeted bluegill in backwater areas and found a lot of fish, with most being in the 4-6 inch range and enough 7-8 inch fish mixed in to make a nice meal for tomorrow night. Biggest bluegill of the day came in at 9.25″ and was released to grow to 10. Most fish were caught using gill pills or mini merts tipped with a couple waxies.
