Water temps are struggling to maintain the 70 degree mark given the recent spell of cooler weather. (Won’t get to 32 fast enough!) Crappie are not as deep as one would suspect given the calender still reads August. Any angler worth his weight in feathers realizes fish just do not abide by the Roman calender though. Targeting submerged structure in 5fow was productive. One of my favorite sights on the open water is watching a bobber bob only to completely sink into the abyss! The crappie are starting to give that dancing minnow a little more attention. Brought home enough for a sandwich or two.
Western shoreline had a ton of floating veggies this evening. Eastern was fishable. Fall flush is just beginning but once we get that in the rear view mirror it’s shaping up to be an excellent fall season on the river!
